Our funding partners

The following funding partners are companies and organisations of high standing and reputation, all of whom agree with Parkinson's Europe's overall strategic direction and help support the integrity of our organisation. Our partnerships with these companies are established on shared interest, transparency, trust and mutual benefit, and do not imply Parkinson's Europe's endorsement of any corporation (or their products or services).

Code of practice for funding partners

Parkinson's Europe has developed its own code of practice to maintain its independence and transparency. Specifically, Parkinson's Europe has a code with regards to its:

Relationship with industrial and other potential partners

  • Relationships between Parkinson's Europe and its industrial (and any other) partners are based on equal partnership. Both sides will work together on policy development and practical initiatives in the interests of all Parkinson's Europe member organisations and Parkinson's Europe's overall strategic direction
  • Successful partnerships are those where both partners gain by making the effort to understand the internal culture and external pressures of the other.

Funding

  • Funding will be declined if its application compromises Parkinson's Europe's independence in any way
  • As an independent organisation, Parkinson's Europe relies on no conflict of interest, and insists on total transparency with the funder as well as the exchange of agreed and signed contracts
  • Parkinson's Europe favours the use of funding consortia of two or more companies to meet its strategic direction
  • Details of Parkinson's Europe's funding are included here and within its Financial reports
  • Parkinson's Europe requires its funders to adhere to relevant company, national and international codes of conduct, including notifying their support for Parkinson's Europe on their websites.

Product endorsement

  • Parkinson's Europe's name must not be used to imply approval or endorsement of any of the funders’ products
  • Parkinson's Europe encourages research into new treatments and the better application of existing therapies. It does not endorse the use of individual treatments over others
  • Parkinson's Europe supports the proper licensing of medicines.

Note: In addition to Parkinson's Europe's own code of practice, Parkinson's Europe is also guided by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) codes of practice. For further information on these two codes, visit EMA and EFPIA.

Becoming a funding partner

There are a number of options available for external organisations and individuals to become a committed Parkinson's Europe funding partner.

Why become a Parkinson's Europe partner?

By becoming a Parkinson's Europe partner, your company will:

  • help enable Parkinson's Europe to carry out its strategic goals on behalf of people with Parkinson’s and their families
  • engage with a long-standing, highly reputable and well-respected not-for-profit organisation (Parkinson's Europe)
  • enhance your company’s visibility at a European – and also national – level
  • demonstrate your company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility
  • help the fight against the effects of Parkinson’s disease, which have an impact across nearly every cultural, social and economic boundary.

For more specific information about activities we can develop in partnership with your company, please download the Parkinson's Europe: who we are and what we do presentation.

The 2023 partnership options

There are three main tiers to choose from when considering becoming a Parkinson's Europe funding partner: Diamond, Gold or Silver. Potential partners are able to choose the amount they pay each year within each tier. Without your generous help, Parkinson's Europe would not exist, so we thank you very much for considering to help us.

Unless agreed otherwise, a partnership agreement with Parkinson's Europe normally covers the period from 1 January to 31 December of each year.

Regardless of the tier you choose, your funding will be split in the following ways:

  • €10,000 guarantees a host of exclusive ‘retainer benefits’ (see table below)
  • According to the sponsorship tier you choose, the following amounts go towards supporting Parkinson's Europe's ongoing running costs:
    • Silver partnership: €12,000
    • Gold partnership: €13,500
    • Diamond partnership: €15,000
  • Any additional funds go towards supporting existing Parkinson's Europe activities, or creating bespoke Parkinson's Europe-partner projects.

Creating bespoke Parkinson's Europe-partnered projects – these opportunities will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

Parkinson's Europe and our individual partners will take time to understand each others' objectives and priorities – and, together, will determine what sorts of projects should be developed in partnership that will help support the European Parkinson's community. Common examples of these include:

  • content campaigns on an agreed topic;
  • targeted online surveys;
  • workshops and/or roundtable discussions.

This benefit is only available to Gold and Diamond partners – and depends on what budget is available within the partnership agreement.

Explanation of Treatment Industry Group Meeting

Since Parkinson's Europe's formation in 1992, we have worked successfully in partnership with the treatment industry. Without this support, we would simply not exist – and therefore not be in a position to carry out the majority of our work programme.

To develop our partnerships further, we launched the Treatment Industry Group Meeting forum in 2009. All Parkinson's Europe funding partners are invited to these collaborative roundtable meetings (usually two per year), which have developed into a valuable and trusted way of working and have led to greater awareness and understanding for all concerned.

The exclusive Treatment Industry Group Meetings are among the most important dates in our calendar, and they ensure that all Parkinson's Europe funding partners work together effectively towards our common goal. For more information about these meetings, please contact info@parkinsonseurope.org.

Other opportunities for collaboration

Parkinson's Europe will happily discuss other projects and activities not mentioned above (i.e., for those companies not able to invest €22,000). Please contact info@parkinsonseurope.org for more information.

Technology partnership

As times change, Parkinson's Europe is eager to look at new types of partnerships with new types of companies – particularly those that develop new ways to improve the lives of people with Parkinson’s through the use of technology. Parkinson's Europe understands that one of the challenges technology companies and start-ups can face is reaching out to – and directly communicating with – the Parkinson's community. We are also aware about the importance of having insight and input at an early stage from people living with Parkinson’s to help shape and test new technologies.

The option for technology partnerships with Parkinson's Europe starts at €10,000 per year, covering the period from 1 January to 31 December (unless agreed otherwise). This will allow the company access to the following benefits:

  • acknowledgment of your sponsorship within Parkinson's Europe annual report and other relevant websites, publications and materials
  • your company name and link appearing on the partners section of Parkinson's Europe website
  • invitation to Parkinson's Europe's annual Members' Meeting
  • one free Parkinson’s Life company sponsored article
  • sponsorship of one Parkinson’s Life podcast.

Moreover, further opportunities can be discussed. If your company is interested in this possibility, please contact info@parkinsonseurope.org for more information.
