Keep ON Moving
Following the success of the Parkinson's Europe ExerciseCast, which saw great engagement and participation from all around the world, Parkinson's Europe joined forces with our company partner BIAL to produce a new exercise programme for people with Parkinson's to perform at home – Keep ON Moving.
This new series was launched in November 2020, when most European countries are, sadly, again facing a lockdown situation due to COVID-19, and millions of people – including people with Parkinson's – will again need to stay indoors.
Parkinson's Europe Board member and physiotherapist Josefa Domingos and speech and language therapist John M Dean (both specialised in working exclusively with Parkinson's for more than 15 years) collaborated with the BIAL video team to produce this series of workout videos – aimed at guiding people with Parkinson's in doing exercise at home. All exercises are based on the dual or multitask training method, which addresses common Parkinson's issues by combining voice, movement and cognition tasks. To learn more about this method, the trainers and the programme please visit the Keep ON Movingwebsite.
Each video can be watched separately for a quick practice or in sequence with others, for a longer and more complete workout session.
World Parkinson's Day 2021
OnWorld Parkinson's Day 2021, Parkinson's Europe will join the #TogetherApart global campaign with a 'special issue' of the Keep ON Moving series! wellbeing and exercise video developed by physiotherapist Josefa Domingos and speech language pathologist John Dean, featuring Luis Leira and Chef Fábio Bernardino from Portugal.
This new video, developed by Josefa Domingos and John Dean and featuring Luis Leira and Chef Fábio Bernardino from Portugal, aims to raise awareness of how Parkinson's can impact daily living activities such as preparing a meal in the kitchen, and to provide simple tips and strategies to overcome these – in a fun and light-hearted way.
These activities and exercises are based, like the other Keep ON Moving videos, on the dual or multitask training method.
Tune in on World Parkinson's Day, 11 April 2021 at 12.00 BST | 13.00 CEST and watch the video on Parkinson's Europe YouTube channel – and here!
